GY has decided to take charge of the little berry’s nighttime sleep and overhaul her entire day’s schedule, including wake-up times and nap times.
“Too long I’ve turned a blind eye to this“, he said. I’m glad for his leadership in this because it can be hard to see the big picture when I’m entrenched in the details of getting through the day, everyday.
So far the changes he’s put in place are:
Consistent wake up time, even on weekends (7-7.30am)
Earlier daily lunch time (11.30 – 12nn)
Earlier nap time (2-4pm is the proposed time but the little berry seems to get cranky by 12+)
Not to nap beyond 4.30pm on any given day
Earlier daily bedtime (8-9pm, we’re still experimenting)
The positive changes we’ve seen so far are that she’s sleeping earlier at night (way before the 10+pm bedtime she was used to), and she seems to not stay awake for hour-long stretches when she wakes up in the middle of the night. She’s also been waking up later to cry for us (last night she slept from 9.30pm to 4+am). But it’s only been a few days so we are still experimenting and finding out what works and what doesn’t.
There’s no magic formula – she still has her moments of tantrums where we need to discipline and teach, she still doesn’t sleep through the night – but I’m grateful for GY’s leadership in this and that he’s committed to finding solutions with the Lord’s guidance.
Lord I commit all our plans to you, current and future. Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it’s The Lord’s will that prevails. Father please purify our desires for our daughter, help us want what you want for her, help us teach her and put plans into place that will be good for her, not out of selfish desires but out of Godly wisdom.
Lord I pray for your inspiration, your guidance in our thoughts and suggestions, and your patience and grace when the going gets tough. Help us look to you every step of the way for you’ve created the little berry and you’ve created us. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
