On Sunday, we dedicated the little berry to the Lord before the church. Even though it was a simple affair which was over in 15mins, it was significant because we made an oath to the Lord before his people, just like we did on the day we got married. And in doing so we are dedicating this little life back to the one who has brought her here.
God’s Word charges us to “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” Proverbs 22:6.
“Father’s do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Eph 6:4
Before the congregation, we responded to the call of being the little berry’s parents. The pastor asked us “Do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses that you will, with God’s help and guidance, undertake to bring your child to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, making use of all the help God has given you in the family and in the church?”
And GY and I said that we will. We said “We do. We pray that God will enable us to be the parents He wants us to be. May we never be a stumbling block to our child. May the Lord equip, encourage and empower us to be positive witnesses and living epistles to him. We ask this in the name and authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen”
